Our Name

The word "Selah" is a musical term found in the Bible that infers a pause and a reflection on what was just said. Selah is used 74 times in the Bible and is found in the book of Psalms and Habakuk.

Many times David comes to the Lord with a burdened heart and he has a moment of Selah where he pauses and reflects. His response is that of faith and hope in God who has been faithful through the years. Our desire is to create a place where we can be reminded to pause and reflect on God's word. Our desire is that people leave with great hope and bold faith.

Our Beginnings

Selah Church began with a simple yet powerful act! A group of families coming together to pray and fast in January of 2023. On February 5th, we gathered for the very first time in a living room, and the Lord’s presence was tangible in those intimate moments. As we met our neighbors and shared life together, it became clear that Selah Church was being planted, and a new community of faith was taking root.

Our First Building

We knew the next step was to gather publicly in a building. As we prayed and trusted God for the right opportunity, He opened the door for us to rent the Gift of Grace Worship Center in Intercession City, Florida, just outside of Davenport. In June 2023, we held our first gathering there with a Prayer Night, and this is where we truly began building a strong, vibrant community.

Our First Move

As we began to outgrow our building, we knew it was time to find a larger space that could also accommodate plenty of classes for kids. In August 2024, we launched our Sunday gatherings at 4pm at The Gate Church, where we are currently renting space. Since our move, we have met so many incredible families who have come alongside us on this amazing journey, helping to grow and strengthen our community.

What's Next?

So what’s next? That is the big question. We believe that Selah Church will one day have a building of our own, and we are faithfully praying, sowing, and seeking God for the next steps for our community. We aren’t just planting a church in Davenport. We are planting the gospel right here in our city. From neighborhoods to the nations, we are committed to being the hands and feet of Jesus.

This is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to be part of history, to join in the beginnings of something great. Be a part of our story, maybe your next step is standing right alongside us as we watch God move in incredible ways.
